Purpose of Position
The Head of School leads the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) and the Graduate Diploma Early Childhood.
The Head manages Teachers, Markers and Placement Coordinators, contributes to governance, teaches and helps students, quality assures assessment, assists with program development, interacts with stakeholders, and participates in scholarship.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach core units in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) and Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood course;
- Oversee and developing teaching resources including administrative documents, teaching materials, assessments, and academic resources;
- Assist with academic management and coordination of students’ professional experience placements;
- Supporting and where necessary advising WIL partner staff to assist with student placements;
- Work collaboratively with academic and senior staff;
- Manage staff, partners and academic resources;
- Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring, enhancement and improvement;
- Organise facilities, library reference materials and learning and teaching resources;
- Work collaboratively with academic and support staff on all campuses;
- Participating in scholarly activity and outcomes; and
Key Requirements to be successful in the Position
- Teaching qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care;
- Understanding of academic policy through substantial experience in academia and the early childhood sector;
- Leadership and management experience in early childhood education and care, and knowledge of related contexts and policies;
- Ongoing participation in current education/teaching and discipline-specific scholarly activity, and production of scholarly outcomes;
- Demonstrated teaching experience in a higher education environment;
- Demonstrated ability to tailor teaching to varying student learning needs;
- Evidence of some research experience and publication outcomes;
- Superb communication and teamwork skills;
- Working with Children Check.
