About The Role
As the Head of Department – Humanities and Languages at Balmoral State High School, you will lead innovation across academic and scholar programs, including Japanese. You will oversee the integration of digital and conceptual design to support a strong curriculum in both Junior and Senior Secondary. A proven track record in improving student outcomes and leading school improvement is highly desirable for this role. You will support the development of confident, resilient problem solvers and collaborate with other Heads of Department to drive digital transformation for students in Years 7 to 12.

Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department - Humanities and Languages, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Drive the school's vision and values to foster an evolving, high-quality professional learning community, supporting students as globally-minded, future-focused citizens.
- Lead a collaborative and progressive faculty, partnering with students, parents and industry to revolutionise assessment and learning within these disciplines at Balmoral.
- Elevate and scale high-quality teaching and learning practices, aligning instruction with responsive, responsive pedagogies and authentic assessment.
- Oversee the diverse range of Humanities and Japanese curriculum requirements for Years 7-12, promoting digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
- Cultivate partnerships with tertiary institutions to advance academic and learning pathways enabling academic enrichment beyond the school.
- Manage a diverse team of teaching and technical staff, optimising human resources within the department.
- Strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including VET providers, to expand student access to vocational education pathways.
