Position Information
Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College Berkeley Vale Campus is a 7–10 campus (enrolment 853 students, including 14% Aboriginal students). Our campus is part of Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College. 54 teachers provide the students and their families with impeccable service, dedication and care which is supported by the school community. We provide a quality, balanced and comprehensive education program. An enriched curriculum caters for diverse learning needs through differentiation and high expectation. Our school’s success is underpinned by two key elements that promote quality teaching and learning programs - Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and Differentiation.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
- Approval and capacity to teach Mathematics (7-10), Mathematics (11-12) and Mathematics Extension.
- Demonstrated ability to lead whole school programs.
- Demonstrated experience and effective leadership of the explicit teaching model with a focus on effective feedback.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the effective implementation, reflection and refinement of programs for the current Year 7 - 10 Mathematics syllabus, with a strong emphasis on Working Mathematically, and to foster collaboration and a shared understanding of the new Stage 6 Mathematics syllabus.
- Demonstrated strong visiable leadership skills with experience in developing a culture of consistency and high expectations with staff, students and community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
