Position Information
Murrumburrah High School is a small rural high school located in a small rural town. Enrolments have been slowly increasing each year with future growth also projected in coming years. Geographically, the nearest towns are all within 50 kms, with the nearest major city of influence over 150 km away. Students generally attend university, enrol in a TAFE course, or take up work opportunities either through general employment or apprenticeship options. Many families have lived in the town for many generations and have a close connection with the school. The school is seen as a vital connection with work and preparation for life after school that supplements the needs of the local community. Many students participate in school based and community-based sporting events and travel a lot to participate. The school executive team is a vital connection point between the school and the community.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a small executive team to effectively initiate, lead, motivate and monitor the implementation of the schools' strategic directions and whole school programs, including explicit teaching and HPGE.
- Proven ability to promote the school within the community and to lead productive partnerships focusing on academic success, positive behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and retention for all students.
- Demonstrated expertise in highly effective administrative technology and organisational and /or compliance systems in terms of leading and managing a small rural high school.
- Proven ability to support the wellbeing of all students through proactive strategies that encourage engagement and motivation in students to succeed.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
