Position Information
St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school located on the upper North Shore with a current enrolment in excess of 1780 students. The school boasts two longstanding Hearing Support Units alongside an Autism Unit within an inclusive education faculty. The unit’s education model has students studying English, Maths and HSIE within the support unit, whilst other subjects are integrated into the mainstream cohort. Students range from Year 7 through to Year 12, and are most often taught in individual year groups within the unit.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach hearing impairment and have demonstrated experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience in adapting the curriculum and teaching methodology to meet the diverse needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues and key stakeholders to create positive learning outcomes for students.
- Capacity to provide specialist advice, professional learning and mentoring to mainstream classroom teachers with a focus on catering to the diverse needs of students in their class.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept. Further information can be found on the merit selection webpage.
Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.
A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
