Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology is an academically selective, co-educational state school for highly capable students in Years 7 to 12.

The Head of Department (Individuals and Society) is suited to an accomplished leader with strong expertise in their Individuals and Society discipline and a passion for advancing excellence in education. Whilst the successful candidate will collaboratively lead, set high expectations for staff and students, and drive innovative, inquiry-based teaching and learning aligned with the school's strategic priorities for their faculty, they will work alongside one other HoD Individuals and Society (Social and Behavioural Science) to ensure alignment and successful delivery of programs
Responsibilities Include
- Provide curriculum leadership in Individuals and Society in line with QASMT's vision and the Department of Education's strategic priorities.
- Lead the department in fostering innovation, inquiry, and academic excellence across the IB MYP and DP.
- Work collaboratively with and support other HoD to shape and implement strategic planning and foster a positive collegial culture within and across the two Individuals and Society departments.
- Develop, implement, and review teaching and learning programs that result in exceptional outcomes for highly capable learners.
- Manage and optimise human, financial, and curriculum resources within the Individuals and Society faculty.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and high expectations among staff.
- Nurture positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Ensure departmental practice reflects socially just and inclusive approaches, in alignment with school and DoE policy.
