About The Role
This position requires a specialisation in developing and supporting high-quality teaching and learning across Prep to Year 6, while performing all core responsibilities of the Head of Department (Curriculum) including leading Ravenshoe State School's intervention system. The role spans all learning areas and supports a systematic, school-wide approach to effective teaching.
The successful applicant will lead the systematic delivery of the Australian Curriculum, ensuring alignment of curriculum, assessment, and reporting, while building teacher capability and strengthening pedagogy.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department (Curriculum), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain strong credibility through demonstrated teaching excellence, deep curriculum knowledge, and pedagogical expertise.
- Facilitate and coordinate professional learning across Prep-Year 6, equipping staff with skills for low-variance, high-impact approaches.
- Apply sophisticated interpersonal, analytical, and strategic skills to lead change, inspire, and engage stakeholders.
- Lead the literacy intervention team and work as a valuable member of our Student Support Team.
- Work as part of the school Leadership Team to support systematic, school-wide curriculum delivery.
- Lead and support pre-service, graduate and early career teachers.
- Provide support and guidance to staff throughout all stages of the teaching cycle.
Who We Want To Lead Us
We are looking for our next Head of Department (Curriculum) to have:
- Proven curriculum leadership experience, deep understanding of the Australian Curriculum, the K-12 Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Framework and the ability to build teacher capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in line managing staff and a commitment to driving high-quality teaching and learning.
- Experience leading whole-school improvement initiatives, familiarity with regional school contexts, and a record of fostering collaborative team cultures within a systems approach.
