The Role
Are you a passionate instructional leader who thrives on improving teaching and learning? CDHS is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Primary Deputy Principal to join our leadership team and drive excellence in curriculum and pedagogy.
The successful applicant should ideally be a strategic, evidence-informed leader who brings a deep understanding of curriculum design, data analysis, and evidence-based teaching. They will lead staff in embedding high-impact instructional practices grounded in the Science of Learning and informed by cognitive science, ensuring that every classroom delivers engaging, effective teaching that drives measurable progress.
As an instructional leader, the Deputy Principal will lead a culture of professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative planning, supporting teachers to align practice, analyse data, and reflect on impact. They will also model and lead positive behaviour and wellbeing approaches, promoting calm, consistent, and compassionate practices that set students up for success.
With strong communication and interpersonal skills, the Deputy Principal will work alongside the Principal and leadership team to foster a positive and professional culture where collaboration, trust, and collective efficacy underpin our shared belief that every child can achieve.
The ideal applicant should possess the expertise, presence, and relational leadership required to influence both teaching and school culture, ideally with a proven record of success in the following areas:
- Leading curriculum improvement and embedding instructional practices that drive measurable student growth.
- Using strong data literacy skills to identify trends, set priorities, and evaluate impact.
- Coaching and mentoring teachers to build collective efficacy and enhance professional practice.
- Leading and supporting whole-school positive behaviour frameworks that foster student engagement and wellbeing.
- Highly developed communication, relational, and problem-solving skills that inspire and motivate others.
- Bringing a collaborative, values-driven approach to leadership that aligns with our vision of creating an environment where every student is encouraged to pursue excellence, fostering a community of lifelong learners and leaders who thrive academically, socially and personally.
