We are seeking a quality and culturally responsive Principal to lead Yarrabah State School in Far North Queensland.
Yarrabah State School serves an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student population from Pre-Prep to Year 10, operating across three campuses within the Yarrabah community.
This is a temporary full-time position to commence from 20 April 2026 to 18 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Your Opportunity
- Yarrabah State School is a Partnership Initiative (PI) school, supported through prioritised resourcing to improve learning and life outcomes within a complex community context.
- Under the current PI special purpose uplift, this substantive SL6 role is temporarily remunerated at SL8, in accordance with Directive 16/24 - Higher Duties.
- Located 57 km south-east of Cairns, Yarrabah State School is a P-10 school operating across three campuses, with a Special Education Unit based at the Primary campus.
- Students speak Aboriginal English / Kriol as their home language, requiring culturally responsive and inclusive leadership.
About The Role
- This temporary leadership opportunity will suit a Principal who can provide steady, confident leadership, support existing school priorities, and work in partnership with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.
- A Special Education Unit supports students across all campuses, with a specialist facility located on the Secondary campus and coordination based at the Primary campus, ensuring inclusive and responsive support for diverse learners.
