Join Sumner Middle School, located in the picturesque town of Sullivan, Maine. Nestled just 15 minutes east of Ellsworth and 40 miles from Bangor, our brand-new Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus serves both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School. With approximately 147 students in grades 6-8, our school fosters an environment that challenges students while providing a safe and respectful learning space. Our mission is to empower students to navigate diverse environments and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
We are seeking a team oriented, collaborative, energetic, and creative 6-8 music/band teacher. This full-time position will begin with the 2026-2027 school year. Our ideal candidate will work to build a brand new middle level music/band program; develop students' understanding and appreciation of the art of music; as well as identify, promote and develop instrumental musical expression. The successful candidate will have access to the most state-of-the-art facilities, including a brand new auditorium, band/choral room, and individualized practice rooms.
The successful candidate will hold or be able to hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification 614 (K-12 Music). Must hold a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education.
