The Opportunity
We are seeking an innovative and visionary Head of Junior School to join our dynamic College Leadership Team commencing in January 2027. This is a 5-year tenured senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Principal.
As Head of Junior School, you'll be instrumental in driving the strategic direction of Pedare, ensuring our continued success and delivering the highest standard of primary education. You will work closely with leadership and staff, fostering a supportive environment for the ongoing development and wellbeing of our Junior School students and dedicated staff.
Key Responsibilities
The Head of Junior School will:
- Provide strategic leadership in the priority areas of the College's Strategic Plan
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Christian faith and the capacity to communicate that faith effectively to the College community
- Partner with the Deputy Principal - Teaching and Learning to lead and manage the Junior School educational program based on the Australian Curriculum
- Collaborate with the Deputy Principal - Student Life and Wellbeing to lead and manage the Junior School wellbeing, student leadership and extra-curricular programs
- Lead and inspire staff in further developing Pedare as a professional learning community, demonstrating high-level interpersonal skills in communication and negotiation
- Lead and review Junior School policies and programmes to ensure Pedare meets legislative and regulatory requirements
- In collaboration with the Manager People and Culture, and Deputy Principal - Teaching and Learning, consult with the Principal about staff recruitment, induction, and onboarding
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to personal professional development
What We Need
- Demonstrated successful school leadership experience, preferably within a similar R-12 independent school environment
- A current Teacher Registration Certificate in South Australia
- A current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) Certificate
- A current South Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred)
- Relevant Academic Transcripts and Qualifications (Degrees/Diplomas)
All certificates and qualification(s) must be provided prior to commencement. The College requires applicants to disclose any information relevant to their eligibility to engage in activities involving children and young people.
