About The Role
The Leader, HASS Curriculum 7-12 demonstrates specialist expertise in secondary education, providing high-level advice and leadership across SA Curriculum, Australian Curriculum V9, and SACE. The role directs resources and curriculum development in collaboration with practitioners, leveraging extensive knowledge to guide system-wide implementation and improvement.
The HASS curriculum incorporates History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business. This specialist field deepens students’ understanding of societies, environments, cultures, and systems, past and present. HASS encourages critical inquiry, ethical reasoning, and informed decision-making, equipping learners to engage thoughtfully with contemporary and future challenges at local, national, and global levels.
The Leader, HASS Curriculum 7–12 collaborates with the Curriculum directorate and key stakeholders to implement evidence-informed curriculum and strengthen teacher capability. The role monitors emerging trends locally and globally, activating areas of Impact and guiding strategic learning design to enhance educational outcomes across the system.
Qualifications
Essential: A tertiary qualification in education and current full teacher registration.
Desirable: Expertise in secondary education: History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business.
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
STL3 $152,287 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%)

Additional Note
