Company Description LillyPilly Early Education Centre is an architecturally designed, purpose-built early learning centre located in Gordon, ACT, supporting children from birth to 6 years of age. The centre provides a unique learning environment that fosters exploration, play, and a strong sense of belonging. Learning spaces are intentionally designed to support educators’ curriculum and to respond to each child’s individual learning style, strengths, and interests. Role Description The Joint Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Gordon, responsible for co-leading the daily operations of LillyPilly Early Education Centre. This role includes partnering with the Director to oversee curriculum implementation, ensure high-quality educational practice, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for children and educators. The Joint Director supports and mentors educators, coordinates staffing and schedules, and fosters strong, respectful relationships with families and the community. Daily tasks include ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards, managing enrolments and administrative processes, and contributing to continuous improvement of programs and services. The successful candidate will model professional, inclusive practice and help maintain a positive team culture aligned with the centre’s philosophy.
Qualifications
- Formal early childhood qualification (e.g., Diploma or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or equivalent) and a strong understanding of early childhood learning and development.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including the ability to mentor, supervise, and support a diverse team of educators.
- Experience in centre operations, including rostering, enrolment management, policy implementation, and compliance with relevant early childhood regulations and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with children, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and maintain attention to detail.
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and child-centered practice, and to fostering environments that promote autonomy, independence, and play-based learning.
- Proficiency with basic digital tools and documentation systems used in early childhood settings for planning, reporting, and communication.
- Current Working With Vulnerable People/Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain) and up-to-date first aid, CPR, and anaphylaxis/asthma training (or willingness to complete).
