Change2Teaching (C2T) offers a supported pathway for professionals ready to bring their skills into the classroom.
Over two years, you’ll earn while you learn, complete your Master of Teaching, and gain hands-on experience in a DECYP school. Along the way, you’ll be part of a collaborative community, doing meaningful work and helping to teach the next generation.
Best of all, your journey doesn’t stop there, with a pathway into a permanent teaching role at the end of the program.
What you’ll do
In the first year of the program, you will support classroom teaching and student learning by delivering small-group and one-on-one support, while developing foundational skills in planning, teaching, and assessment, with a strong focus on supporting literacy and numeracy development.
In the second year, you will take on increased responsibility for teaching duties, including planning, delivering, and assessing learning programs, while working under the guidance of an experienced mentor teacher.
Across the two-year program, you will undertake on-site study for your Master of Teaching qualification alongside your employment, progressively moving from a support role to becoming a classroom teacher.

Essential Requirements
- Successful completion of a Bachelor degree in a non-education discipline at an approved tertiary education institution.
- Prior to commencing employment, participants will additionally be required to:
- Enrol and be accepted into the Master of Teaching program at University of Tasmania; and
- Hold a current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment)
Please note: The cost associated with obtaining a RWVP is the responsibility of the individual.
Salary
Salary Range Year 1: $85,000.00 (per annum, pro rata) + superannuation
Starting at 28 hours per fortnight, increasing to 42 hours per fortnight.
Salary Range Year 2: $90,000.00 (per annum, pro rata) + superannuation
Starting at 42 hours per fortnight, increasing to 56 hours per fortnight
