Position Descriptor
Amata Anangu School is a small, remote school located on Anangu Country in the north-west corner of South Australia, surrounded by the Musgrave Ranges and approximately two hours from Uluru. The school is a vibrant bilingual learning community where Anangu Educators and teachers work side by side to deliver culturally responsive, inclusive and engaging learning programs. Staff collaborate closely to design contextualised secondary learning experiences that are strongly connected to community priorities, culture, language and student aspirations.
The Senior Leader (Secondary Learning) plays a key leadership role in driving high-quality teaching and learning for secondary students across the site. Working in close partnership with the Principal, leadership team, staff, students, families and community members, the Senior Leader provides strategic and operational leadership to strengthen curriculum delivery, improve student outcomes and ensure effective pathways for post-school success. The role includes leading secondary curriculum development, supporting teachers with evidence-based instructional practices, overseeing assessment and reporting processes and ensuring learning programs are inclusive, rigorous and aligned to site priorities.
A strong focus of the role is supporting student engagement, wellbeing and retention in the secondary years, with a particular emphasis on improving attendance, strengthening learning pathways and embedding high expectations for achievement. The Senior Leader also works closely with Anangu staff and community members to ensure secondary learning programs reflect local culture, language and aspirations, while building strong transitions into further education, training and employment.
