The Role
The Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School (9-10) is a newly created position at Caulfield Campus that plays a pivotal role in ensuring the School’s Vision, Purpose, and Values are operationalised, fostering a dynamic and inclusive culture that prioritises student growth, staff collaboration, and parent engagement. Reporting to the Deputy Principal - Head of Campus, the Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School provides strategic leadership of their Sub-School while overseeing its daily operations, in partnership with the Associate Head of School.
As a member of the Campus Leadership Team, the Deputy Head of Campus - Head of School (9-10) leads and manages the Associate Head of School and the Year 9 & 10 Heads of House team, strengthening the school’s pastoral care structure, and works alongside the Deputy Head of Campus - Head of Teaching and Learning, in supporting the effective leadership of Heads and Assistant Heads of Faculty to ensure alignment with school-wide academic priorities.
This will be a 5-year fixed term Positions of Responsibility (POR) commencing in January 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Campus Leadership and cross campus school-wide teams, lead and embed the School’s vision, purpose and values across the school.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Associate Head of School, Heads of House and Faculty staff across the campus with a focus of creating a strong vibrant learning culture.
- Lead, develop and support a culture of improvement that sets high expectations for all staff and fosters exceptional outcomes for students.
- Ensure school learning experiences foster an inclusive culture where all students feel safe, connected, and are known and valued by staff for their unique contributions.
- Maintain a strong and current knowledge of pedagogy, educational research, and the effective integration of ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ensure student voice is actively sought, respected, and integrated into decision making and contributes to shaping culture of the school
- Cultivate and foster a collaborative environment, where teamwork and a ‘One School’ approach is prioritised, ensuring a high-performing and highly engaged team .
- Work alongside the school Student Experience team to develop and implement strategies that deepen the understanding of students’ intellectual, social, emotional, health and well-being needs, fostering a holistic approach to student development
- Identify, initiate, and strengthen opportunities for parents, caregivers, and guardians to engage with their child’s learning and the School’s educational priorities
- Uphold high-performance standards by conducting regular reviews, delivering well-documented, constructive feedback, and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
- Lead the planning, delegation, and evaluation of work undertaken by your team ensuring effective allocation of responsibilities and clear accountability for outcomes.
- In partnership with the Head of Teaching and Learning, review curriculum and pedagogy using a range of evidence, including assessment data, to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets and expenditure efficiently, ensuring alignment with School policy.
- Manage and review resources, property, and equipment to ensure alignment with School policy and optimal use.
- Support staff development by providing meaningful professional learning opportunities that enhance teaching effectiveness and pastoral care

Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
- Minimum 5 years proven record as an outstanding teacher.
- Extensive experience in supporting staff, students and families to facilitate positive student outcomes.
- Experience in leading social emotional learning programs.
- Experience using proactive and responsive strategies to manage significant student behavioural and wellbeing concerns.
- Experience in leading or managing a team, including goal setting, overseeing performance and providing constructive feedback and recognition.
- High-level planning, organisation and decision-making skills.
- Extensive experience in building strong relationships with and managing multiple stakeholders, including staff, students, parent/carer/guardian and the wider community.
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for student success (including student pathways).
- Confident and articulate public speaker with strong written communication skills
