Position Summary
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is committed to delivering an excellent Catholic education to students from Early Learning (age 2-5) to Year 6, employing contemporary and best-practice pedagogies and providing high-quality pastoral care and wellbeing while upholding our Catholic Ethos. As a teacher in this position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive teaching and learning programs across the entire school. Our teachers are supported to deliver an exceptional education in a dynamic and stimulating environment where every individual is respected and valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to deepening the understanding of the Catholic tradition of the school and to building a faith community by bringing a Catholic perspective to all aspects of the role.
- Effectively implement the School Teaching and Learning Framework.
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of students based upon the Australian Curriculum.
- Use effective teaching strategies and techniques to maximise student learning outcomes.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment which is learner centred that promotes student wellbeing and is aligned with relevant curriculum, wellbeing and safeguarding policies, documents and practices.
- Monitor and assess student progress, provide constructive feedback and implement intervention strategies as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues and the Leadership Team to develop and implement effective teaching and learning programs.
- Build positive relationships with students, families and the wider school community.
- Contribute to the broader life of the school through participation in extracurricular activities, school events and committees.
- Keep abreast of developments in education and implement best practice teaching strategies.
- Other duties as requested by the Principal or members of the School Senior Leadership Team
Essential Criteria
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and registration with the Northern Territory Teacher Registration Board.
- Hold a valid Ochre Card.
- Capacity to actively support and participate in the life of the school, and its Catholic mission and ethos.
- Ability to work in accordance with school, system and jurisdiction policy, processes and legislation.
- Compliance with relevant WHS legislative and related school requirements.

- Ability to teach across a range of primary school year levels and subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to inform teaching and learning practices.
- A commitment to leading contemporary and innovative pedagogy.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families.
