Port Macquarie Steiner School is a thriving K-6 school located on Birpai land on the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Entering its ninth year, the school provides a holistic education grounded in the educational principles of Rudolf Steiner, supporting students to develop as resourceful, creative and ethical human beings with reverence for the living world and respect for one another.
As the school embarks on an exciting new chapter, including the development of its purpose-built Sovereign Hills campus, Port Macquarie Steiner School is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of School to lead the community through a period of transformation, growth and opportunity.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Head of School is responsible for the overall educational, operational and strategic leadership of the school. Working collaboratively with the Board, teaching staff and Business Manager, you will guide the delivery of high-quality Steiner education while supporting the school's vision to grow as a leading regional centre for Steiner education.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership that inspires, guides and motivates the school community.
- Lead curriculum development, pedagogy and the application of Steiner education principles across the K-6 program.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional growth and collaboration amongst staff.
- Mentor and support a dedicated team of teachers, assistants, specialists and educational coordinators.
- Provide educational leadership and strategic oversight as the school develops its new campus and operates as a dual-campus school.
- Work closely with the Business Manager to support effective operational, financial and capital works planning and delivery.
- Build strong relationships with families, educational networks, peak bodies and the broader community.
- Support implementation of the school's Strategic Direction and provide advice and reporting to the Board.
- Act as a passionate ambassador for the school, strengthening its profile and supporting future enrolment growth.
About YOU
You are a collaborative and values-driven educational leader with:
- A deep commitment to Steiner education and its underlying philosophical foundations.
- Proven leadership experience in education, ideally within a Steiner school environment.
- The ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff through periods of growth and change.
- Experience contributing strategically to governance, leadership and organisational development.
- Confidence overseeing complex projects and supporting organisational growth, ideally including capital works initiatives.
- Strong financial and operational leadership capability.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- A passion for deepening understanding of Steiner education amongst staff, families and the wider community.
- Experience engaging with educational and community networks at local, state and national level.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and NSW teacher accreditation, or the ability to obtain it.
