Catholic Education has a network of schools in both urban centres and remote communities. For teachers there are many opportunities in the Territory. We have 18 Catholic schools in the region - five colleges, seven primary schools, two flexible learning centres and five remote schools.
St John's Catholic College
St John's Catholic College Darwin is a Catholic Co-Educational College, Years 7-12, in the heart of Darwin. The College offers a range of Australian Curriculum and SACE subjects (Stage 1 & 2). The College is calling for applications from suitably qualified and experienced Teachers of Music with the ability to teach other Learning Areas.
Essential Criteria
- A demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission.
- Ability to plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment, to establish a challenging learning environment in which students are encouraged to work towards attainment of their potential.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, their families and the wider community through appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment to achieve optimal educational outcomes.
- Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and a current Working with Children Clearance (NT).
Highly Desired Criteria
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience for the Learning Area.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in delivering the SACE through to the Stage 2 level.
- Qualifications and/or experience in working with students from an EALD / diverse range of backgrounds.
- Capacity to deliver other subjects across the Learning Areas.
- Willingness to contribute to the pastoral care and co-curricular program of the College.
