Head of Teaching and Learning - 2027 Start
The responsibility of the Head of Teaching & Learning is to demonstrate commitment to building the Kingdom of God, specifically through dedication to the King’s Christian College Vision and Mission.
The Role:
- Demonstrate commitment to Christian leadership through vision, service and example
- Promote and embody the College’s Foundational Values
- Help to ensure teachers teach from a Biblical Worldview
- Contribute to the overall management of the high school
- Assist with supervision of the work of Heads of Department
- Adhere to school policies and procedures
- Contribute to the cultivation of a strong professional learning community, including staff development and support
- Establish and maintain a culture of high expectations, including academic behaviour and achievement
- Ensure students engage, discover and succeed
- Ensure teachers utilise teaching strategies and processes that respond to data and wider research
- Ensure progress towards targets is monitored and initiatives are evaluated for their effectiveness in producing desired improvements
- Preserve and sustain initiatives for long term impact
- Develop and maintain a culture of continuous professional improvement that includes classroom-based learning, mentoring and coaching arrangements
- Celebrate student and staff success.
Role Duties, Including But Not Limited To:
Strategic Leadership
The Head Of Teaching And Learning Will:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for teaching and learning across the College, aligned with the Strategic Plan.
- Lead innovation, research, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance student outcomes.
- Provide advice to the Principal and Head of High School on educational programs, curriculum development and future-focused learning.
- Ensure compliance with curriculum, assessment, review and regulatory requirements, including QCAA, ACARA, NSSAB and Peer Review processes.
Teaching and Learning Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation and review of high-quality curriculum, assessment practices and learning programs.
- Support Heads of Department and teachers to improve teaching practice through evidence-informed approaches, data analysis, professional learning and collaboration.
- Promote engaging, authentic and inclusive learning experiences that support student achievement and growth.
- Oversee curriculum requirements, subject selection, assessment processes, reporting, NAPLAN, QCAA and external assessment requirements.
- Champion the effective use of digital technologies and contemporary teaching practices.
Staff Development and Relationships
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement among teaching staff.
- Provide professional leadership, mentoring and support to Heads of Department and teachers to build capability and reflective practice.
- Support staff induction, professional learning, performance development and recruitment processes.
- Build positive relationships across the College and create an environment where staff feel supported to innovate and grow.
Operational Management
- Oversee teaching and learning policies, procedures, resources, budgets and key academic processes.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on timetabling, curriculum planning, assessment schedules and academic programs.
- Manage key teaching and learning initiatives, including homework support programs, textbook resources and academic events.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure effective communication of academic processes and requirements.
Communication and Community Engagement
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and the wider community regarding teaching and learning initiatives.
- Facilitate collaboration, problem-solving and constructive feedback across departments.
- Represent the College through presentations, professional networks and community engagement opportunities.
- Develop communications that celebrate teaching, learning and innovation across the College.

About Our College
King’s is an expanding, multi-Campus school that places paramount importance on the development of the whole child, with a particular focus on providing every student the opportunity to develop Christian Leadership skills that will prepare them for their future. Our programs challenge and shape students’ thinking and understanding of their role in the world.

Our College currently consists of 3 dynamic campuses, with several more campuses in the planning stages, serving the communities in which they are located.
The REEDY CREEK CAMPUS (on the southern end of the Gold Coast) has more than 2600 students on-site, from Early Learning through to Year 12. This campus also includes a Trade Training College.
Our PIMPAMA CAMPUS (on the northern end of the Gold Coast) currently has over 2000 students on-site, from Early Learning to Year 12.
King’s LOGAN VILLAGE CAMPUS (in south-west Logan) offers places for students from Early Learning through to High School.
