Summary St Mary's College, Maryborough is seeking four Middle Leaders to join their leadership team across Curriculum (English and Sport) and Pastoral (House Leader) leadership positions.
Pastoral Middle Leader (House Leader) - Tier 2
The Pastoral Leader supports the school’s mission by leading pastoral practices for student welfare, ensuring programs promote Gospel values, supervising teacher practices, fostering partnerships with families and external entities, managing student behaviour, and overseeing resources effectively.
Curriculum Middle Leader (English) - Tier 3
Curriculum Middle Leader (Sport / Physical Education) - Tier 2
Play a key role in driving the school’s mission by leading and shaping our dynamic learning and teaching programs.

- Salary: $86,601 - $124,725 per annum + Middle Leader Allowance + 12.75% Super

This is a continuing teaching appointment with an initial appointment into the Middle Leader position including Middle Leader Allowance, concluding at the end of the current triennium (December 2029). Two subsequent three-year appointments with the Middle Leader Allowance can be offered subject to satisfactory performance in the position and the ongoing existence of the position.

About the opportunity Pastoral Middle Leader (House Leader) In this position, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership in pastoral care for a designated group of students, promoting their wellbeing and development in alignment with the school's mission and values.
- Guiding and mentoring staff involved in student pastoral care to foster effective and consistent practices.
- Supporting the induction and ongoing development of teachers within the area of responsibility.
- Monitoring student wellbeing, engagement and progress, and coordinating appropriate responses to identified needs.
- Leading initiatives that strengthen student welfare, belonging and positive behaviour across the school community.
- Coordinating pastoral programs, camps, retreats and other student formation opportunities.
- Maintaining current knowledge of best practice in student wellbeing and sharing insights to build staff capability.
- Managing resources and budgets associated with the pastoral portfolio.
Curriculum Middle Leader (English or Sport) In this position, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the strategic direction, development and performance of the designated curriculum area.
- Building teacher capability through professional learning informed by contemporary research and evidence-based practice.
- Supervising, mentoring and inducting staff within the curriculum area.
- Analysing student achievement data to inform improvement strategies and targeted interventions.
- Overseeing curriculum planning, implementation and review to support high-quality learning outcomes.
- Managing resources and budgets to ensure the effective delivery of curriculum priorities.
About you For the Pastoral Middle Leader (House Leader) role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience leading pastoral care initiatives that promote student wellbeing, belonging and faith formation.
- Strong understanding of student development and the ability to respond to academic, social, spiritual and wellbeing needs.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour practices that foster a safe, respectful and inclusive school culture.
- Experience coordinating student programs, camps, retreats and other formative opportunities.
- A commitment to continuous professional learning and sharing best practice with colleagues.
- Leadership experience in a Catholic school or equivalent educational setting.
- Sound resource and budget management skills.
- Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School (or equivalent from another Diocese).
- A commitment to, and active participation in, the Catholic faith. Applicants for this position must be Catholic.
For the Curriculum Middle Leader (English or Sport) role, you will demonstrate:
- A minimum of five years' teaching experience.
- Experience designing and implementing curriculum programs aligned with national, state and local requirements.
- Expertise in assessment design, moderation and data-informed improvement practices.
- Proven ability to lead innovation and improvement within a curriculum area.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative leadership skills.
- Experience managing budgets and resources to support teaching and learning priorities.
- Applicants for this position are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding Requirements
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
- Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
