The role of the Training Coordinator is to coordinate the delivery of high-quality training and assessment (including competency-based training) to youth detention staff and contribute to the strategic and operational objectives of the youth detention centres and the department’s learning and development agenda.
As The Training Co-ordinator, You Will Specifically
- Manage the delivery and coordination of a complex curriculum of high-quality youth detention training and learning and development initiatives to ensure the achievement of workforce and business objectives.
- Assess training needs for new and existing staff and design training plans and schedules to meet individual, workforce and business objectives. Ensure training is delivered in line with approved timeframes.
- Work as part of a dynamic team to develop, implement and monitor projects and activities that contribute to quality training outcomes and a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Track and report on training outcomes and manage training records, including training data and analytics.
- Manage and coordinate logistics for training activities including rostering of facilitators, venues, equipment and other resources.
- Work closely with trainers and facilitators to support quality training delivery. Supervise, mentor and coach staff, trainers/facilitators as required. Ensure they understand their obligations and responsibilities in the training environment and work as a team to resolve and escalate risks and issues as required.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with the youth detention centres, departmental staff and key stakeholders.
- As required, deliver high quality training, assessment and professional development activities to youth detention staff.
- Prepare submissions, reports, briefs and correspondence on a range of strategic learning and development issues on behalf of youth detention management.
- Provide high-level expert advice and input into curriculum reviews and updates. Work with the Learning and Development Directorate and other subject matter experts to ensure staff have access to a range of contemporary best-practice training programs and materials.
- As required, support incident review processes and provide advice to youth detention management.
