An exciting opportunity exists within the Office of the Assistant Director-General, Student Support for a highly motivated professional to support the Assistant Director-General and executive team to lead the branch and deliver critical strategic functions for the Department of Education.
This role includes providing advice to the Assistant Director-General and the executive team on current and emerging priorities to ensure the smooth running of the branch, while reinforcing a collaborative working culture for Student Support branch. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with and learn from all staff across Student Support branch, including senior executives, as well as to positively influence the work culture and operations of the business unit.
This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About The Role
The Manager has the following key responsibilities:
- Prepare and provide high level advice and support to the Assistant Director-General and other senior officers of State Schools Strategy about state-wide implementation of strategic policy initiatives relating to state schooling, including national and Queensland government initiatives and schooling policies and procedures.
- Lead a small team to provide quality executive support to the Assistant Director-General; act as point of contact for queries and requests to the branch; and design and deliver systems and processes for effective operations of a large branch.
- Manage and quality assure the preparation of departmental reports, submissions, responses, briefings and correspondence, as well as responses to the annual cycle of corporate strategic, budgeting and reporting requirements.
- Apply departmental and public sector policies, procedures and frameworks to enable best outcomes for the work program of the branch, and guide others in decision making in line with these frameworks.
- Develop, maintain and foster effective relationships and liaison within and across the branch, division and department, with other government departments, and with other key stakeholders and partners in the support of the department's strategic agenda.
About You
We are seeking a Manager with:
- Strong capability in overseeing business functions and supervising others
- Advanced ability to prioritise multiple pressing deadlines and enable workflows to be achieved
- Record of maintaining clear, high standards for branch products and ability to effectively work with senior executives and teams in upholding these standards
- The capacity to analyse and resolve complex issues in a sensitive and collaborative manner in keeping with the branch culture
- A willingness to engage in the content areas of the branch to support high quality corporate briefing and decision-making
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication, organisation and supervisory skills, be strategically-minded, and have the desire to listen, learn and collaborate across multiple levels of the department to deliver positive outcomes.
