The Opportunity
Monash College is seeking an experienced Music teacher to teach in our program on a part-time basis. The role involves a 0.5FTE Teaching fraction and an additional 0.125FTE administrative duties fraction.
This is a fixed term replacement position. Possibility for extension of the role will be discussed with candidates selected for interview.
We are seeking a teacher who has experience teaching classroom Music at a level equivalent to Year 11 and 12. working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The role’s commencement coincides with the start of the semester and the Foundation Year and administrative duties include setting up students' individual instrumental lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Scheduling individual 1-1 practical sessions with qualified instrumental instructors for each student (1 session per week).
- Liaising with payroll regarding the billing/payment for individual instructors
- Liaising with the University to organise final performances/exams.
- Organising live student performances on campus on set days/events.
- Organising maintenance of College-owned musical equipment (ex: piano tuning).
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of individual students, drawing on diagnostic data and ongoing assessment results.
- Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching in allocated Foundation Year units through face-to-face learning in line with curriculum and assessment guidelines.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Experience teaching international students in a tertiary, Year 12 or pre-university context, preferably in transition programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary teaching methods. Familiarity with competency-based and formative assessment practices.
- Recognised Teaching qualification or a minimum of two years’ teaching experience
