ROLE SUMMARY:
Reddam House North Sydney is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Visual Arts Teacher to join our innovative and collaborative school community. This teacher will
leverage extensive experience and subject expertise to deliver high-quality instruction to students from
Years 7-11 (Stage 4-6). It offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a fast-growing subject area within a progressive, academically focused school environment that strongly values the Visual Arts.
This role is a
full-time contract, covering the start of Term 2, 2026, to the end of Term 1, 2027, with the potential for extension.
As a high-performing educator, the Visual Arts teacher will bring a strong pedagogical foundation to the classroom, promoting academic excellence and intellectual curiosity. This teacher will deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons that inspire their students' love of art. They will foster a positive and supportive learning environment that nurtures students’ creativity, critical thinking, and confidence. The successful candidate will be a highly organised, flexible individual who can work autonomously while also responding positively to direction.
By creating engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to the broader school community, this teacher supports students' holistic development and empowers them to achieve their full potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Visual Arts to secondary students in Years 7-11, demonstrating exemplary teaching practices and setting a high standard for student engagement and achievement.
- Work effectively as part of a departmental team to ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences.
- Engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, aligning with Reddam House’s educational philosophy.
- Assess students’ abilities, strengths, and areas for improvement, providing individualised support to help them overcome challenges and excel academically.
- Evaluate and assess students’ educational progress and abilities, providing timely feedback and detailed reports to students, parents, and school leadership.
- Monitor and support students’ emotional and social well-being, addressing concerns or issues as they arise.
- Prepare and administer exams, assignments, and other assessments, marking student work to measure learning outcomes.
- Participate in required duties, staff meetings, assemblies, and professional development days, contributing to the broader school community.
- Engage with parents and guardians during parent evenings to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Attend, supervise and/or organise a range of school activities, including art exhibitions, excursions, fundraising events, camps, sporting events, and presentations.
- Undertake professional development to maintain NESA accreditation and stay current with best practices in education.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Ability to deliver high-quality Visual Arts teaching to secondary students.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively within a departmental team.
- Proficiency in assessing student abilities and providing targeted academic support.
- Competence in designing, administering, and marking assessments.
- Clear communication skills for providing constructive feedback and writing detailed reports.
- Pastoral awareness to support students’ emotional and social well-being.
- Confident interpersonal skills for engaging with parents, students, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills to contribute to school events and maintain ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent, specialising in Visual Arts.
- Accreditation with NESA.
Additional Requirements
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
- Povide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up and drop off duties.
- A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
