Kamaroi Steiner School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic primary school teacher who is committed to providing a creative and enriching learning environment as they lead a class on a journey throughout their primary years. The applicant will have experience teaching in a Steiner school and will have an approved Steiner Teacher training.
About Us:
Located in an idyllic bushland setting in Belrose, Kamaroi Steiner School is a well-established primary school for children from pre-kindergarten to Year 6 (Class 6). Based on Steiner principles, we offer a nurturing environment to address the changing needs and capabilities of children at each stage of their development. Our Steiner curriculum and creative method of teaching are a well-rounded balance between academic learning and the creative arts, whilst still delivering required NSW curriculum requirements.
Position:
· Full time, commencing January 2027.
· Remuneration – will be commensurate to the qualifications and experience of the candidate, and in alignment with the Independent Schools NSW/ACT Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
Key Relationships:
· The role holder is responsible to, and reports on all aspects of the role to the Principal.
· Relationships of significance exist with administration staff, teachers and children.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Class Teacher include but are not limited to the following:
Teaching and Learning
· Plan and deliver an integrated program of artistically presented lessons and experiences, in alignment with Steiner Education pedagogical principles.
· Prepare and teach Main Lessons based on the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF).
· Design and deliver high quality lessons for explicit teaching of Numeracy and Literacy practice.
· Prepare and teach quality, creative lessons across subjects not covered by specialist teachers, including singing, recorder, painting, modelling, form drawing, games/physical education, cooking, and gardening.
· Work collaboratively with specialist teachers to integrate their subjects into the broader program.
· Ensure programs foster holistic development of physical, social, and intellectual skills.
· Provide inclusive learning experiences for all students, differentiating to student learning support needs and conferring with the learning support team.
Class Life and Community
· Plan and lead class activities, excursions, camps, and annual celebrations such as the Class Play.
· Collaborate with colleagues on whole-school events including assemblies, festivals, and artistic or environmental projects.
· Uphold a supportive classroom culture that nurtures student confidence, wellbeing, and individuality. Foster a warm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
· Maintain an ordered, inspiring learning environment with refreshed blackboard work, current displays, cared-for resources, and good hygiene.
Assessment, Feedback and Reporting
· Regularly assess each student’s academic and social progress to guide teaching and learning.
· Provide timely, age-appropriate feedback to students.
· Maintain confidential student records including work samples, assessment data, Individual Learning Plans, NCCD adjustments, and external reports.
· Provide written reports on student progress and achievement in line with school policy.
Professional Engagement
· Work collaboratively with colleagues, the College of Teachers, and staff in line with Kamaroi’s purpose, values, and policies.
· Engage in ongoing professional learning to ensure Kamaroi’s teaching and learning practices are delivered. This includes anthroposophical and curriculum study and mentoring by experienced Steiner teachers as well as other trainings.
· Uphold school policies, child safe standards, confidentiality, and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, participating in annual reviews.
· Contribute to the school community by sharing skills, supporting student teachers, and fulfilling duty-of-care responsibilities.
· Communicate openly with parents/carers and foster strong home/school partnerships through regular contact and participation in school events, festivals, and fairs.
Selection Criteria
· Approval to teach/instruct in the NSW Education system.
· Previous experience as a Steiner primary school teacher.
· Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a vibrant team.
· Ability to work enthusiastically with students with the aim to support and increase understanding and knowledge.

· Sounds-Write or other phonics training is highly desirable.
· Hold a current NSW Working with Children Check.
