Seeking Experienced English Teachers
Ivanhoe Grammar School invites expressions of interest from experienced and passionate English teachers for 2027 to join our Academic Staff and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive and forward-thinking learning environment.
In this role, you will support the development of students’ literacy, critical thinking and communication skills, while also contributing to their intellectual, social, emotional and personal growth. You will deliver engaging, high-quality English programs and play an active role in student care, co-curricular life and the School’s culture of character.
This position is full time (1.0 FTE), ongoing, commencing in January 2027 by negotiation.
What You Will Do
As a key member of our academic community, you will work closely with Campus Faculty Leaders, Director of Faculty and colleagues across year levels and learning areas to deliver high-impact teaching and student care.
You Have The Necessary Experience, Knowledge And Skills To:
- Deliver purposeful, research-informed learning using Ivanhoe’s Instructional Model — Warm Up, New Learning, Dive In and Reflect
- Teach English with a strong focus on student growth, explicit teaching, deep learning and academic care
- Embed Universal Practices such as clear learning intentions, formative assessment, differentiation and student goal setting
- Create calm, inclusive classrooms that support curiosity, confidence, collaboration and high expectations
- Build strong relationships with students and support wellbeing through responsive, professional and student-centred practice
- Contribute to House life, co-curricular programs and wider campus initiatives with visibility and enthusiasm
- Engage in reflective practice and professional growth through coaching, collaborative planning and shared learning

You Have The Necessary Experience, Knowledge And Skills To:
- Teach effectively in a school context, holding a relevant qualification, ideally complemented by postgraduate studies in Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy
- Demonstrated success in teaching English at a senior level
- Apply well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to engage confidently with students, staff, parents and community partners
- Uphold a strong commitment to child safety and inclusive practice, supported by a valid VIT registration
- Bring a solutions-focused mindset, high professional standards and a commitment to character education
- Model and foster a culture of respect, reflection and responsibility
- Embrace continuous learning, personal growth and the development of others
