ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Teacher of Food and Textiles Technologies to join our secondary school program.
As a full-time Teacher, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a vibrant and practical curriculum that inspires students to develop confidence and capability in food, textiles, and hospitality contexts. You will have strong knowledge of content and pedagogy across Food and Textiles Technologies, as well as the ability to deliver curriculum in both general and vocational pathways (including VET Hospitality qualifications). You will use engaging and inclusive teaching strategies that cater to diverse learners and be committed to embedding safe, sustainable, and industry-standard practices in your teaching.
In addition to classroom responsibilities, this role supports the School’s pastoral framework by nurturing respectful relationships, modelling the School’s Christian values, and demonstrating a genuine care for students’ wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the relevant Curriculum Leader, you will:
- Plan, implement, and review learning programs aligned with relevant syllabus and curriculum requirements (e.g. ACARA and QCAA), ensuring coherence, rigour, and appropriate sequencing of learning;
- Create a learner-centred classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, supportive, and respectful.
- Use differentiated and contemporary teaching practices to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Maintain effective classroom management practices consistent with the School’s Behaviour Management Policy.
- Assess, monitor, and provide timely feedback on student learning and progress.
- Maintaining professional standards as defined by the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers;
- Actively support student wellbeing and pastoral care in the classroom and across the wider school community; and
- Adhering to and upholding the School’s Code of Conduct, as outlined in the Code of Conduct for Anglican Schools and Education & Care Services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine willingness to engage, connect, and care for students, supporting them to achieve their academic potential while growing in confidence, character, and faith.

Skills and Experiences:
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:
- Qualified Teacher, registered with, or eligible for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
- Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice, and engagement.
- Experience teaching Food and Textiles Technologies and/or Hospitality in a Secondary School in Australia.
- Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice, and engagement.
- Strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum (Technologies - Design & Technologies, Food Specialisations, and Materials & Technologies specialisations) and VET frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to engaging positively with colleagues, students, parents, and carers to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Ability to foster creativity, practical skill development, and safe work practices in food, textiles, and hospitality learning environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and the Anglican ethos of the School.
