About the Role
We are seeking a versatile, results-driven Academic Manager who is equally comfortable leading academic operations and standing in front of a class. This role combines academic leadership, compliance oversight, and hands-on teaching across both General English and PTE Academic preparation streams. The ideal candidate has a track record of helping students achieve strong, measurable PTE score gains, and enjoys mentoring a teaching team to do the same.
Key Responsibilities
1. PTE & General English Teaching
• Deliver high-impact PTE Academic classes, teaching all four skills (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) with a focus on strategy, scoring criteria, and measurable score improvement.
• Deliver engaging General English classes according to a scheduled teaching timetable.
• Track individual student score progress and adjust teaching strategies to close specific skill gaps.
• Develop and refine PTE practice materials, mock tests, and score-prediction resources.
2. Academic Leadership & Teacher Development
• Mentor, support, and lead the teaching team through classroom observations, constructive feedback, and targeted professional development, with particular emphasis on PTE teaching technique.
• Oversee curriculum and assessment across General English and PTE streams to ensure optimal,
consistent student outcomes.
• Build and maintain a bank of PTE score-improvement benchmarks and reporting tools for the teaching team.
3. Compliance & Operations
• Ensure strict compliance with CRICOS, ELICOS Standards, and relevant national training frameworks.
• Manage class allocations, teacher schedules, and day-to-day academic workflow.
• Monitor student academic progress, manage attendance tracking, and handle academic escalations
compassionately and firmly.
• Lead academic audit preparation and quality-improvement initiatives with Operations and Compliance.
4. Student & Brand Engagement
• Support student retention and satisfaction by addressing academic and PTE-related concerns directly.
• Partner with the Sales & Marketing team on digital content — including PTE score-result testimonials, student spotlights, and on-camera promotional campaigns.
About You
Qualifications & Certifications
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent).
• Tertiary qualification in TESOL, Education, or a related field (postgraduate highly regarded).
• PTE Academic trainer certification, or demonstrated extensive experience teaching to the PTE test format, strongly preferred.
Experience & Expertise
• Proven experience in an Academic Management, Senior Teacher, or Director of Studies role within the Australian ELICOS / international education sector.
• Demonstrated success preparing students for the PTE Academic exam, with evidence of consistent student score gains.
• Active, current classroom teaching experience, balancing teaching workloads with administrative duties.
• Deep working knowledge of CRICOS and ELICOS compliance frameworks.
• Experience working with culturally diverse student cohorts.
Skills & Attributes
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and organisational skills.
• Collaborative mindset with excellent cross-functional communication.
• High confidence and comfort appearing on camera for video content and promotional media.
