Position Details
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full-time, ongoing Humanities and Social Sciences Teacher to become an integral part of the College’s HASS Department, commencing 1 January 2027.

Responsibilities
The Humanities and Social Sciences Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the HASS Learning Area that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.
- Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.
- Deliver an engaging HASS curriculum, supporting students to develop criticial thinking, including real-world application of knowledge, inquiry-based learning and ethical decision-making.
- Planning and programming for classes within the HASS Learning Area to promote learning and involvement.
- Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.
- Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
You Will
- Have the ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7–12).
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, preferably with a specialisation in Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Be committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities.
- Show strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate with colleagues.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Be dedicated to ongoing professional growth.
- Actively support and contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
Qualifications
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, preferably in Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) or equivalent.
Terms of Employment
- Hold a current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).
- Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, Accreditation to Teach Religious Education or Accreditation for Leadership in Catholic Schools.
- Annually complete Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.
Highly Desirable
- Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE courses.
- A strong understanding of current educational perspectives.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
