Position Details
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Marine and Maritime Science Teacher to join our College. This is a full-time, ongoing position commencing Term 1, 2027.
This role reports directly to the Head of Learning Area - Science and is suited to a dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic Marine and Maritime Science Teacher with a strong passion for marine environments and education. The College has a successful and well-established Marine and Maritime Science program, and the successful applicant will possess the knowledge, skills, and expertise required to deliver high-quality Marine and Maritime Science at an ATAR level.
Responsibilities As a Science Teacher
- The ability to teach Year 11 and 12 ATAR Marine and Maritime Studies.
- The ability to teach Year 11 and 12 General Marine and Maritime Studies.
- The ability to teach year 10 Marine Science elective.
- The ability to teach lower school Science to Years 7-10.
- The ability to be innovative in current teaching methodologies, keeping up to date with current pedagogical trends in Science.
- The ability to differentiate the Science curriculum to a range of ability groups, to ensure individual student success.
- To work collaboratively to build rapport with students, parents and all College employees to develop respectful, inclusive and positive working relationships.
Selection Criteria
- Highly skilled and competent in the delivery of Upper School Science in Year 11and 12 ATAR and General Marine and Maritime studies.
- Excellent ability to teach and promote Year 10 Marine Science elective.
- Excellent ability to engage students in Science in Tears 7-10.
- Excellent ability to plan, organise and coordinate excursions and camps in line with risk management practices, ensuring CEWA guidelines are adhered to in consultation with the College’s Risk Management Officer.
- Experience in writing and delivering differentiated programs in Science.
- Excellent ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to contemporary pedagogical practices.
- Excellent ability to be flexible and an adaptable change agent, by embracing existing and emerging technologies and teaching practices that support contemporary student learning.
- An awareness and appreciation for the Catholic ethos of the College.
Qualifications Required
- Undergraduate degree in a specific discipline with a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) or Bachelor of Education.
Essential
- Senior first aid qualifications
- Community surf rescue or Bronze medallion
- Snorkelling Instructor Qualifications or OW20 Scuba Certification (preferred)
Desirable
- Recreational Skippers Ticket
- Dinghy instructor
- Powerboat handling course
- MR Bus licence
