Commencing the
start of October 2026, on a 12-month maternity leave contract, Moriah College invites exceptional Year 6 Classroom Teachers to join our Primary School team. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, extending high performing learners, and delivering engaging learning experiences that challenge students to think deeply, creatively, and critically.
About The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will work within a collaborative and high functioning team; you will participate as the key educator in the innovative learning programs designed to meet the needs of students who are motivated to achieve highly and learn deeply. Your willingness to create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to take intellectual risks, embrace challenge, and develop a lifelong love of learning will be an asset. You will also support students as they transition to High School, helping them consolidate the skills, knowledge, and understandings acquired throughout their Primary School journey. In addition, you will guide students through a transition program that familiarizes them with the expectations, routines, and practices associated with High School, ensuring they are well prepared for the next stage of their education.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning programs.
- Develop and implement strategies that challenge and extend gifted and high-potential learners.
- Analyse student data to inform teaching practice and maximise student growth.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that promotes wellbeing and resilience.
- Provide educational adjustments and personalized learning experiences to meet the needs of all students.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, specialist staff, and families to support student success.
- Contribute to the broader life of the College through co-curricular activities and community events.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

You Will Have
- Demonstrated experience teaching upper primary students.
- Proven knowledge and experience in Gifted and High Potential Education.
- A strong understanding of contemporary educational practice and evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to student wellbeing and positive education principles.
- A growth mindset, curiosity, and enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
- NESA accreditation and relevant teaching qualifications.
- A current Working With Children Check.
