Casual ELICOS Teacher – Study Tour Program (2 Days)

Hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (8 hours per day)
Pay Rate: $50 per hour
About the Role:
Sunshine Coast International College (SCIC) is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging casual ELICOS teacher to support a two-day study tour program for a visiting group of international students.
This role combines classroom teaching with guided educational excursions around Sydney. You will help students develop their understanding of Australian culture, education, and everyday life while ensuring they have an enjoyable and engaging learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver an interactive orientation lesson on the morning of Day 1.
- Use your own teaching materials for the orientation session (or adapt existing resources if preferred).
- Accompany students on guided excursions throughout Sydney.
- Keep students engaged by sharing interesting facts and local insights during the tours.
- Work collaboratively with two accompanying Chinese teachers, who will assist with student management and logistics.
- Support a positive, welcoming, and culturally enriching learning environment.
Program Overview:
Thursday
- 9:00 am – 12:00 pm: Orientation lesson at SCIC Sydney Campus
- 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Lunch
- 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Guided visit to Sydney CBD, including Hyde Park, Town Hall, QVB, Chinatown and the University of Sydney.
Friday
- Morning excursion to Bondi Beach and the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk.
- Afternoon visit to The Rocks, Campbells Cove and the Royal Botanic Garden.
- Return to campus for the graduation ceremony and group photos.
What we're looking for:
- ELICOS teaching experience (preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident leading small groups in both classroom and outdoor settings
- Friendly, energetic and reliable
- Good knowledge of Sydney and Australian culture is an advantage
- Ability to adapt to changes throughout the day and work collaboratively with accompanying teachers
