ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Early Childhood Teacher you will work within our preschool program while providing educational leadership and guidance to our team of educators.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality, play-based educational program that supports children's learning, development, wellbeing and transition to school.
You will work collaboratively with educators to strengthen curriculum decision-making, critical reflection, intentional teaching and the implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, implementing and evaluating engaging, play-based learning experiences for preschool-aged children.
- Leading the development and implementation of the educational program and curriculum.
- Promoting children's agency, inclusion, wellbeing and meaningful participation in the program.
- Document, assess and evaluate children’s learning and development to ensure children’s progress is observed, captured and understood. Maintain accurate records of developmental needs, interests, experiences and participation using a variety of methods, including observations, learning stories, portfolios, photos and digital documentation, in line with Service policies and legislative requirements.
- Implement procedures and daily practices that ensure the Service provides a safe, supportive and stimulating educational environment in line with the NQF, WH&S legislation and child safe standards. Actively contribute to creating inclusive indoor and outdoor learning environments that promote children’s health, safety, wellbeing, engagement and learning through play, exploration and discovery.
- Promote positive behaviour, empathy and cooperation through intentional teaching and role modelling. Support children to develop self-regulation skills, understand emotions, resolve conflicts and build respectful, healthy relationships with peers.
- Developing positive and respectful relationships with children and families.
- Supporting children's transition to school.
- Contributing to the service's Quality Improvement Plan and continuous improvement processes.
- Working collaboratively with the Director and broader educator team.
- Maintaining high standards of child safety, supervision and professional practice.
- Ensuring practices are consistent with the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard and relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Supporting educators to understand and effectively implement the EYLF.
- Mentoring and supporting educators in curriculum planning, documentation and reflective practice.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- An ACECQA-approved bachelor’s degree or higher with an early childhood specialisation.
- A minimum of one year of relevant employment experience.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
- Current approved First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain these prior to commencement.
- Demonstrated experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher, preferably within a preschool or long day care setting.
- Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standard.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate high-quality educational programs.
- Strong understanding of educational leadership, critical reflection and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor, guide and work collaboratively with educators.
- A strong commitment to child safety and to ensuring the rights, wellbeing and best interests of children are paramount.
- A professional, positive and collaborative approach to working with children, families, colleagues and the wider community.
