Kelvin Grove State College is seeking applicants for the position of Head of Department - Humanities. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled instructional leader with strong organisational skills and subject expertise to join our college community. The successful candidate will be an innovative, strategic and relational leader with a passion for curriculum development and quality teaching and learning. This position is being offered in a temporary full-time capacity until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About The Role
As Head of Department - Humanities, you will lead a large team to design and deliver innovative and responsive curricular and co-curricular programs within the Humanities Department. You will oversee the coordination of curriculum and enrichment programs across disciplines such as History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Social Sciences. You will contribute to the broader strategic agenda of the college as a member of Kelvin Grove's Leadership Team.
Each of the college's Heads of Department lead large and complex areas of responsibility within a P-12 institution of approximately 3700 students.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead the development, implementation and review of the Humanities curriculum across Years 6 to 12 in line with college and departmental initiatives
- Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders The Head of Department (Humanities) is accountable to the Deputy Principal who leads the college's Pedagogy and Capability portfolio.
