The South East Region is seeking a motivated and committed Director - Student Child and Family Connect to commence in July 2025. Based at our Hope Island office, they will partner with schools, communities and other agencies across the Logan, Gold Coast and Scenic Rim areas to increase multi-agency collaboration and lift engagement of young people in education and training.

About The Role
The Director - Student Child and Family Connect leads a portfolio of specialist staff providing high-quality services and support to students across Queensland state schools. This includes the student protection portfolio, the regional youth engagement service, the education justice initiative and the intensive education case service. The Director - Student Child and Family Connect works with the Executive Director Regional Operations and other senior regional leaders to ensure systems, process, practices and programs address and respond to the diverse needs of learners. We are looking for an experienced leader who can lead a team of approximately 40, including 4 direct-report Managers.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Identify and implement strategies to increase multi-agency collaboration to lift engagement of vulnerable children and young people in education
- Manage and maintain oversight of the broader student engagement, student protection, education justice and intensive case management portfolios
- Develop and maintain effective communication networks within the department, across regions, across government agencies and other stakeholders in relation to identifying and developing place-based and proactive responses to emergent and contentious issues that may impact on children and young people's engagement in education.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of commitment to the values of public sector leadership and to the delivery of quality services to our stakeholders. They will foster quality connections with interagency partners across government and skillfully work across boundaries to reduce barriers to service provision, supporting all children and young people to remain engaged in learning. As a senior officer, the successful candidate will have skills in human resource and financial management, governance, and an ability to exercise of significant levels of independent judgement, and exercise delegated authority as required. But more importantly, they will be an experienced leader of people, someone who can stimulate ideas, mobilise talent, foster continuous improvement and drive accountability and outcomes.
